Q: Why should I work with an insurance broker?

Q: How can I reduce the cost of my insurance?

A: We always recommend an annual review of your policy to ensure your rates are optimized. You might be able to take advantage of multi-line and claim-free discounts. Another easy way to lower your monthly premiums is to increase your deductibles. Our brokers would be happy to help you in your quest to save money.

Q: What factors will affect my auto insurance premiums? 

A: Your age, location, driving record and the type of coverage you require will all affect your premium. When buying a new car, you can save money by purchasing vehicles that are less costly to repair and those that have a lower risk of theft. Installing an anti-theft system and keeping your driving record clean will also lower costs.

Q: If someone borrows my car, is my vehicle still covered? 

A: Your auto insurance goes with your car. When you lend your car, you essentially lend your insurance as well. Any licensed driver is covered by your auto policy when using the vehicle with your permission. Shaw Insurance Group advises you to be careful when lending your car as accidents will go on your insurance record and may increase your premium.

Q: What does my home insurance cover? 

A: Your policy will cover the following:

  • Your house and attached structures (garage, etc.)
  • Your valuables including appliances, furniture, clothing, etc.
  • Additional living expenses when you are forced to move out of your home due to a loss
  • Liability coverage any injury or property damage to others.
